This Date In Providence Bruins History: January 12

In the first game since the end of the NHL lockout, with the resultant prospect of players soon moving up to Boston, the P-Bruins triumph over the Springfield Falcons, 5-2.

Mitch Lamoureux and Davis Payne both score late while Rob Tallas keeps the host Portland Pirates at bay to complete a sweep of a home-and-home series with a 2-0 win.

Jason MacDonald scores twice in regulation to delete 1-0 and 2-1 deficits. In the subsequent shootout, David Lundbohm, who assisted on both of MacDonald’s goals, breaks a 1-1 tie in the eighth round to beat the host Portland Pirates.

With 12 out of 17 skaters contributing a point, including three-point games by Bobby Allen, David Krejci, T.J. Trevelyan and Kris Versteeg, the P-Bruins romp the Binghamton Senators, 8-1, in Broome County.

After being shut out in back-to-back outings and losing two straight for only the second time all season, the P-Bruins avert an empty weekend with a 3-1 home win over Springfield. It is goaltender Jordan Sigalet’s first victory since coming back from a mid-November health scare.
