This Date In Providence Bruins History: January 7

1994: Trailing the Cornwall Aces, 3-0, at the first intermission, the P-Bruins salvage a point when Grigori Panteleev, Jozef Stumpel and Andrew McKim insert three unanswered goals.

2000: The P-Bruins halt a five-game losing streak with a come-from-behind, 3-1 win over the equally bedraggled Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Nick Boynton assists on Jonathan Aitken’s equalizer and Jeremy Brown’s go-ahead strike.

2005: Patrice Bergeron scores in his first game back from the World Junior Championship while linemate Brad Boyes bags an assist and the game-winner to stomp the Springfield Falcons, 4-1.

2007: With 11 different point-getters―including three-point efforts by Yan Stastny, Pascal Pelletier and T.J. Trevelyan―the P-Bruins throttle the visiting Falcons, 7-2, to end a five-game losing streak and ultimately start a five-game winning streak.

2009: Martins Karsums is selected to skate with the PlanetUSA All-Stars while Johnny Boychuk and Martin St. Pierre are chosen to represent Team Canada.

2011: Matt Dalton repels all 34 shots-faced for his first AHL shutout, blanking the visiting Manchester Monarchs, 3-0.

This Date In Providence Bruins History: January 6

1993: A 2-1 win over the Springfield Indians extends the P-Bruins’ season-high home unbeaten streak to nine games (8-0-1).

1996: The P-Bruins split a back-to-back series with a 4-2 loss to the Prince Edward Island Senators in what proves to be their final visit to Charlottetown.

2006: The P-Bruins win their third consecutive game and their 10th out of the last 12, edging the Manchester Monarchs, 3-2, at The Dunk. With the team trailing, 2-1, at the second intermission, defenseman Mike Schutte records back-to-back assists to pull even and then break the tie via Pascal Pelletier.

This Date In Providence Bruins History: January 5

1996: The P-Bruins delete 4-2 and 5-4 deficits and ultimately surpass the host Prince Edward Island Senators, 6-5.

1999: Jim Carey and Landon Wilson are both named to the PlanetUSA All-Star Team, slated to counter teammates Randy Robitaille and Andre Savage on the Canadian team.

2002: The Manchester Monarchs pay their first visit to Providence and cultivate a 2-1 victory at The Dunk.

2003: A come-from-behind, 5-3 win at Lowell’s Tsongas Arena extends the P-Bruins’ unbeaten streak to 11 games.

2008: Despite losing a shootout to Worcester, the P-Bruins extend their point-getting streak to six games and finish a seven-game road swing at 5-1-1 while extending their hot streak to 15-2-1 since the final day of November.

This Date In Providence Bruins History: January 4

1994: The U.S. Olympic team, captained by Peter Laviolette, thrashes the Baby Bs in an exhibition game, 7-2, at the Providence Civic Center. Future P-Bruin John Lilley chips in two goals for the Olympians while future 1999 Calder Cup MVP Peter Ferraro chips in an assist.

1995: Goaltender Scott Bailey, along with forwards Fred Knipscheer and Tim Tookey are selected to represent Team USA in the AHL All-Star Game.

2008: The P-Bruins win their fifth consecutive game, all on the road, with a 4-3 triumph at Springfield’s MassMutual Center. It makes for their third five-game win streak in a span of 17 total ventures.

2009: A 3-1 home win over the Houston Aeros gives the P-Bruins a sweep of their three-game weekend slate. Linemates Mikko Lehtonen and Brad Marchand have a hand in each of two goals within the first 14 minutes, which effectively puts the game away.

2001: Eric Manlow returns from a brief promotion to Boston and scores the game-winner in Quebec. The 3-1 triumph over the Citadelles snaps the P-Bruins’ seven-game winless skid.

2002: Rookie Andy Hilbert is named to the PlanetUSA All-Star team.

2004: Goaltender Tim Thomas assists on Carl Corazzini’s first of two unanswered goals, which are ultimately all the P-Bruins need to subsist through a 3-1 win over Lowell at Tsongas Arena.

2009: Kevin Regan stops 23 out of 25 shots within the first two periods to prop up a 3-2 lead, which eventually morphs into a 5-2 victory at Springfield’s MassMutual Center.

This Date In Providence Bruins History: January 1

1993: Glen Murray’s hat trick pilots a 9-7 barnburning victory at Moncton.

1999: The P-Bruins connect on four out of a mere 16 shots on goal, just enough to beat the host Springfield Falcons, 4-3.

2010: Rick DiPietro props up a 2-1 lead for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers between the 9:56 mark of the opening frame and 11:47 of the third period. But then, Drew Larman and Trent Whitfield each connect in a span of five minutes to usurp a 3-2 lead and Jordan Knackstedt (two assists) ices a 4-2 home win with an empty netter.
