This Date In Providence Bruins History: January 4

1994: The U.S. Olympic team, captained by Peter Laviolette, thrashes the Baby Bs in an exhibition game, 7-2, at the Providence Civic Center. Future P-Bruin John Lilley chips in two goals for the Olympians while future 1999 Calder Cup MVP Peter Ferraro chips in an assist.

1995: Goaltender Scott Bailey, along with forwards Fred Knipscheer and Tim Tookey are selected to represent Team USA in the AHL All-Star Game.

2008: The P-Bruins win their fifth consecutive game, all on the road, with a 4-3 triumph at Springfield’s MassMutual Center. It makes for their third five-game win streak in a span of 17 total ventures.

2009: A 3-1 home win over the Houston Aeros gives the P-Bruins a sweep of their three-game weekend slate. Linemates Mikko Lehtonen and Brad Marchand have a hand in each of two goals within the first 14 minutes, which effectively puts the game away.
