This Date In Providence Bruins History: January 18

Fueled by Marquis Mathieu’s two-goal game, the P-Bruins notch a 6-2 home victory over the Lowell Lock Monsters. Winning goalie John Grahame ties John Blue’s franchise record for most single-game penalty minutes by a Providence goaltender with an identical log of two minors, one major and one 10-minute misconduct.

A member of the inaugural team in 1992-93, defenseman Gord Murphy re-dons the Spoked-P and sets up Carl Corrazzini’s go-ahead goal en route to a 3-2 home win over the Worcester IceCats.

Twice trailing by a goal, the P-Bruins rally to top the host Albany River Rats when Kris Vernarsky draws a 2-2 knot with 92 seconds to spare in regulation and Chris Kelleher slugs home an overtime goal.

Aaron Slattengren provides all of the necessary offense with the game’s first two goals, but will be joined by six others in the multipoint club in a 7-1 throttling of the Lowell Devils at The Dunk.

Matt Dalton stops a Rob Hisey penalty shot at 5:05 of the second period, then repels four of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers five shootout attempts. Zach Hamill and Jamie Arniel both convert on the other end to give the P-Bruins a 2-1 win at Webster Bank Arena.
