This Date In Providence Bruins History: January 17

1995: The Providence Civic Center hosts the AHL’s first All-Star Game in 36 seasons, with the Canadian team edging Team USA, 6-4. P-Bruins player/assistant coach Tim Tookey chips in two assists while goaltender Scott Bailey stops 11 out of 13 shots for the U.S. team, which also features former P-Bruin Andrew McKim, then-Bruin Fred Knipscheer and future Providence forward Jean-Yves Roy.

2003: Pat Leahy’s hat trick spells the difference in a 4-1 win over the St. John’s Maple Leafs at The Dunk.

2007: David Krejci scores two unanswered goals and Petr Kalus inserts the eventual game-winner for a 3-2 triumph at Hartford, giving the P-Bruins a sweep of their four-game road trip.

2009: Two goals by Jeremy Reich bookend the scoring while Tuukka Rask keeps the Hartford Wolf Pack at bay with 39 saves en route to a 5-2 road victory.

2010: Mikko Lehtonen is voted onto the starting lineup for the AHL’s PlanetUSA All-Stars.
